Magnolia Moments

This is my submission for Magnolia's weekly challenge on the Just Magnolia blog (a link is on my sidebar.) This week's was to use embossing on your card...and my designer paper was embossed using a new SU folder I ordered. I love the subtle look with this one. The not so subtle colors are my nod to purple, actually rich razzleberry is the name! I love this color, and it matched up well with this already colored Magnolia.
I won the sentiment stamp at my demo and friend, Carn's, last month!! How fun is that?? Nobody else even put their name in the bucket, so I had pretty good odds of winning. I like to bake and figured I'd use this stamp set, and I have! I am wanting to make an apple pie or apple crisp soon.
Tilda is holding out her prize winning apple pie!! Her secret ingredient...you'll have to wait to find out! One thing I love about coloring my Tilda's is she always has matching socks! In real life, that is my aim, but too often my socks not only do not match my outfit, they don't match each other!

Magnolia Mini Accordian File

Good morning! I wanted to share a project with you today that I found while cruising Becca's Blog at Amazing Paper Grace. (view sidebar for link) This is a Mini-Accordian File!! I am excited about this project partly because I love the idea for sending a little gift...think of the possibilities here: little tea bags or apple cider packets, tiny prima embellishments, or even as a way to send images to a friend and make them a gift!! Secondly, this project's tutorial by Valerie Strangle seen here: Valerie's Blog that I just couldn't mess up! The only thing I changed about this project was I used my Martha Stewart lacy flower punch on the top of each envelope before assembling. That's right, this project uses business sized envelopes cut in half so a portion of the cutting/measuring is already done for you! That brought the height of the pocket down a little bit, but it added a lot in design interest!

My Tilda was watercolored using reinkers and Tim Holtz distress ink. The papers were a mix of different companies that I just loved together. The bright gold primas and top of the file were embellished with chocolate pearls...yumm!!

I'll have a Tilda with Everything on It!!

It's one minute from morning, so good morning! I have been missing my favorite little girl lately, so wanted to make this card for this week's SCS sketch challenge and the Magnolia challenge for this week. The Magnolia challenge was to use ribbon, and I did, with this sheer organza in a double bow made so much easier with the bow-easy!!

I feel like I must be hungry lately, because this Tilda is a real smorgasbord of garnishings (not embellishments, we're talking food language)...we have ribbon, an oh so delicate crocheted flower from a dear friend, coupled with two primas, then two pearls and a generous topping of stickles!!

Tilda makes her Mark

Tilda is getting ready for back to school, and her Mom just took her shopping. It wasn't long ago that Tilda was dressed in polyester pantsuits, usually out of some subdued (ugly) gold or brown sewn on Mom's old Singer, but this year she begged her Mom to take her shopping to a real store where she could buy this pretty jumpsuit. The brown shirt is from last year's pile, but with this pink number, it looks brand new!! Tilda is so excited, she even stuffed her pockets with art supplies, her ruler, paintbrush, and pencil. She is ready for art class after many summer days of helping her Mommy in the craft room!!

This is for the Magnolia challenge to use buttons on your card, and this one has quite a few! I used my Papertrey collections in Raspberry Fizz, browns, and creams. The bottom button is a flower I made using cardstock handtorn into circles. The circles were spritzed with water, crumpled up, uncrumpled and then each corner was wrapped around a stylus tip and rolled up. This helped me to use some different colors to tie the card together.

Tilda Recovers from Spray Tan

Tilda Two Weeks After Spray Tan

The other day I started my Tilda card with the wide wavy gingham background paper. I have had that paper for eons, and thought it paired well with the marigold gold. I colored and colored, and kept noticing that the more I colored this little girl, the darker she became, and more mottled her face appeared as I tried in vain to "correct" her skin tones. It dawned on me a little late, that I had stamped this image earlier in the wrong ink for copics, and the copics were bleeding slightly. It kind of reminded me of many summers ago when one of my daughters, on a vacation trip to Florida, insisted that she and her girlfriend get a "spray tan." I agreed with hesitation, figuring it would go down in history as a fun memory. Well, the next day she was distraught as she woke up to her skin with patches of varying pigments of brown, and she tried to exfoliate and wash and shower to get the scales to release themselves. I could almost hear my Tilda telling me to change the angle of the lens so as not to show off her mottled tan, but you won't say anything will ya?So, she insisted I take another photo later after her skin had renewed itself, and there she is in all her fair glory! Well, truth be told I did both of these for the Magnolia Blog Challenge only to realize I was late with the waiting for Tilda's skin to improve...oh well, today's a new challenge and I will look into it.

I used my wonderful Magnolia Tilda's for both of these creations. I even went on a shopping spree to find these little butterflys, they were on a flat ribbon trim sold by the yard at Joanne's . The challenge was to include a bug or insect, so that was my insect!

There is no moral to this story, only another challenge to conquer within the given time frame, wish me luck on that one...I only have one more week!
