When He Comes

Christ came the first time as an infant, born in time and space, small and weak. He will return as the everlasting King, great in strength and glory.
When He came the first time, His glory was shrouded and concealed from human view; when He comes the second time, His glory will shine brightly. His first coming was obscure, witnessed by a few poor shepherds and the like. Few recognized who He was. At His second coming, every eye will see Him and all will know who He is.
He came the first time as the Lamb of God; when He returns , it will be as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. At His first coming, He was judged and condemned to die by sinful men; when He returns , it will be as the Judge, to execute justice and judgment on all who have refused to repent of their sins.
When He came the first time, only a few bowed to pay Him homage; when He returns, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The first time, He washed the feet of the disciples; when He returns, all His enemies will be under His feet.
The first time He came, He wore a crown of thorns; when He returns, He will be crowned with many crowns, the King upon His throne. He came the first time to make peace between God and man; when He returns, it will be to make war on those who have rebelled against Him.
He came the first time as our suffering Savior, He will return as our sovereign, reigning Lord.
Hallelujah! Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Stockings were hung...

One of the many things I love about this time of year, celebrating Christmas, are the Christmas cards and letters received from family, friends, and many of them stampers, just like you! This stocking was completely CASED by my friend, Dawn Burnworth, who is so ultra talented, especially when it comes to coloring images. I used a stocking card she sent as color inspiration for this card/ornament and as a template!  I have not colored in oh so long with copics...so it always helps to have a guide. I did not post a picture of Dawn's card today...I may wait until I have a few and post them all together. But this one is being mailed out so I thought I'd better take a picture before it goes in the mail. I used white prisma pencil to add a very rudimentary stocking stitch on the toe and heel...and also use it to highlight the stockings a bit. That is a little helpful hint I learned once upon a time.
I will be back before Christmas...may you take time to breathe, enjoy the special sounds, sights, and aromas of this wonderful season where we anticipate celebrating the Lord's birth and soon return!

Flourishes Christmas in Pink and Blue!

It's the Timeless Tuesday challenge this week  at Flourishes stamps!  You can visit their blog here, and play along with the challenges. The challenge issued by the team is to make a non-traditional colored Christmas card. I love Flourishes stamps and have been collecting them almost since they first began producing them. They are the highest quality, detailed and gorgeous artwork with a definite "flourish," which suits my romantic side quite well!!
I am also entering the challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday. They have a beautiful complimentary scripture available when you visit their blog which you can use on your cards or projects!
I so enjoyed this challenge, using two of my favorite sets, the first "Flourish of Trees" with the sentiment from the "Alleluia Angel" set and the Decorative Labels 8 by Spellbinders. The tree was stamped with PTI soft stone ink, then versamarked and dazzling diamonds embossed. I matched up this iridescent ribbon with Purely Pomegranate paper to back the water colored card front. The sentiment is stamped in PP and framed with the Spellbinders "Ribbon Banners." Pink and champagne pearls finished this off.

I used a set I purchased on sale after Christmas from Flourishes last year, "Alleluia Angels," to make this second card. The background paper is some specialty embossed paper that I inked with Tim Holtz "Broken China" distressed ink. The Angel was inked in the same color, and the sentiment is embossed with silver embossing powder and adorned with the silver "pearls." A single white ribbon strip is layered beneath the frame. Labels 25 from Spellbinders frames the angel.
I had a lot of fun and encourage you to join in the challenge this week!

Now I have Christmas cards for both our daughters made.
Which one do you like best?
I appreciate your visit so much at such a busy time of year! Today I worked my regular volunteer shift at Meals on Wheels. The office is getting ready to distribute Christmas stockings to all the MOW recipients...this year due to the huge donations from all the volunteers, the stockings will be full of fun and useful items, plus a few little treats, too!
Hope you are enjoying all your Christmas preparations!

Traci's Treasure~

Our Daydream Design founder, Diane Noble, contacted the Design Team members a little while ago, asking for our favorite scriptures. Her intention was to design a set of scriptures using each of the ladies submissions. Well, we have three digital sets available in the Daydream Designs store, each of the scriptures is featured twice, one with extra color or added flourish or embellishment to bring the scripture alive! This is the Scripture Set 3, and you can find the entire threesome bundle here on the Daydream Designs store.
I can not tell you the excitement I have with my chosen verse. It is beautiful, majestic, glorious...I think Diane captured this verse beautifully in her digital rendition.
I made this card a couple of weeks ago, while working with several digital images. I wanted to use this beautiful  Elegant Snowflake papers also in the store; the red captured the regal look I was searching for to accompany the scripture.
This verse is my life verse. There are so many scriptures that I love, and some speak more loudly at times through the Holy Spirit than others...but this is one of those verses that embodies my life, my desires, my priority. Many many years ago, the first time I read this verse was a very aha! moment in my life. From then on, I strive to follow this verse and make knowing God and studying His word a priority.  I was reading a favorite devotional this month, and in it the author spoke of this word, "priority," stating that the original context and meaning of this word has always been singular. There are no "priorities," there is only one "priority." It is not until our American culture and the world we live in with all of our technology and gadgets that enables us to be doing three things at once (and brag about it, too!) the word became plural.  Priority. It is a struggle at times, it takes effort and intention and willpower to turn off the noise, and seek in the quiet the one thing God created us for. But when I do...there is so much peace there, so much rest, so much joy to the point of giddiness...of Him...that I wonder why I waited so long?
This time of year, especially, it is easy to become distracted with the makings of Christmas, that we could possibly miss it. My pastor greeted me with a big smile at church Sunday, and asked "Are you ready for Christmas?" I thought for a millisecond of all the things I had not done... the shopping, the decorating, the baking, the card writing and sending, but I could honestly say, "Yes," even with a sparkle in my eye. I love Christmas, and I am ready...I am ready to welcome the Christ child and worship the King. I have been singing hymns while shopping, humming, marching around my kitchen to "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given..." and my doggies have marched along with me. This is such a joyful time of year, but really anytime we can have that joy when we spend time seeking Him and making Him the priority of all our life. He is worthy!!
Thanks for stopping in, it's always so fun to know you were here!!

Let's Warm Up Together!

click on photo for a close up view!
So, it's that time of year when we are all in need of quick gifts. I have a few precious ladies in my church that I am a mentor mom to and wanted to give them a little stamped card that contains a gift...maybe they call that a gift card?! My project today uses Sweet Warm Ups Colorized version (which also includes the cute colored inside sentiments bundled together!) and the Sweet Warm Ups Digital Paper. When you have to make multiple little cards/projects, these colorized versions are a lifesaver. I love that I can just size, click and print. And then embellish away to my hearts content!
I saw this design on a you tube video by Diana Gibbs.
As you can see, the outside flap was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder, then fresh snow ink (PTI) was lightly brushed over the embossed areas to highlight the snow.
This is the outside of 5 1/2" wide gift card holder that is held together with a belly band. The cute snowman latte mug and striped candy cane paper is from Daydream Designs store.
The second photo is the belly band removed. The inside pockets are formed by a regular size invitation envelope. The envelope holds two 2" x 4" cards (one for a gift card and the other pocket to contain a short note.)
You can find the You Tube video by Diana Gibbs here!

I used one insert and side punched it to hold a Starbucks gift card in place, the other is white card stock with a punched top label to dress it up!! The white one is empty so I can add a short Christmas wish.

I just love the festive look of this set! I used the same candy cane striped paper to border the inside flap of my pocket and punched it with a snowflake punch! I want to thank our newest Daydream Design team member, Stephanie, for getting me started with this idea. She used a different design...which you can find on Stephanie's blog here. The titled post is Expressly for You (just scroll down a few entries.)
You can pay a visit to the Daydream Designs store here and get started on your own Christmas cards and projects!!
Thanks for paying me a visit today...our day here is in the high 60's but I still have been busy baking and drinking my cup of coffee...wish you could join me!
